The Saare County Central Library's staff of 21 librarians served in 2005 appromoximately 7480 patrons, including 2042 children.

In 2005 circulation was 155 269 items. The number of visits to the library was 170 720.

The Music Department, furnished with CD equipment, opened in 1996. For the first time patrons had opportunity to contact Internet on February 20, 1997.

Department of Audiovisual Aids and Internet with five working places was opened in the Saare County Central Library on February 19, 1998. The project "Establishing the public Internet-office in the Saare County Central Library" was supported by the Open Estonia Foundation.

An integrated library information system RIKS has been installed in Saare County Central Library in 2003.

As a rule, books can be taken home for three weeks. Reader service is free of charge. As a general rule reference books and periodicals cannot be checked out.

The library has collected information and sources on Saaremaa since nineteen fifties. The library makes co-operates with the Archive Library of Saaremaa Museum, dealing with historical materials mainly.
